Cost and quantity
Calculation of quantity
Before starting your project, make sure you carefully calculate the quantity of material you will need. Here's how to do it:
- Calculate the area to be covered, in square feet.
- After taking your measurement in feet, add approximately 5% to cover any waste.
- Multiply your result by the price per square foot of your selected product, adding the cost of installation, if any.
- Check how the wood floor you wish to install is sold. Some products are only sold in full boxes.
- Have your calculations verified by a specialist before ordering. This first step basically helps you draw up your budget.
Cost
Wood prices usually vary between $3 and $8 per square foot, not including installation.
Maintenance and care
Rules for maintenance and care and instructions for protecting hardwood
Wood slat finishes do not increase durability, resistance to impact or compression. Animal claws, high heels, or any pointy, sharp-edged or heavy object, as well as objects dropped onto wood floors may leave marks or cause damage.
- Vacuum your floors often to eliminate as soon as possible all abrasives (sand, glass, crystal, or metal shards, shavings, etc.) that can scuff the varnish.
- Only use maintenance and care products recommended by the floor manufacturer.
- Never use wax, detergent, or oil-based soap on your floor.
- We do not recommend cleaning varnished floors with a water and vinegar mixture, because vinegar oxidizes the varnish over time.
Immediately wipe water, liquid or detergents, before they are absorbed by the wood fibres.
